About Sara...

Sara Lankshear, RN, PhD (c) is President of Relevé Consulting Services in Penetanguishene, Ontario. Sara has over 20 years of experience in health care including direct care, education, and administrative roles within various sectors in the health care system: hospital, rehabilitation, complex continuing care, long term care, public health, and community.

Prior to independent practice, Sara held various senior level positions such as: Director, Organizational Development and Corporate Professional Leader, Nursing. Through these roles, she has been directly involved in the implementation and evaluation of various organizational structures and processes which has enabled her to work directly with senior management, board and a variety of health care professions.

Sara brings a unique combination of expertise in the areas of Nursing & health care, adult education, organizational development, change management, program evaluation and research methods when working with clients. She has shared her experiences through publications and presentations at numerous provincial, national, and international conferences.

Sara’s commitment to excellence is demonstrated in her leadership roles with many professional organizations: Chair, Association of Nurse Executives of Greater Toronto Area; Past-President, Professional Practice Network of Ontario, Board member, Register Nurses Association of Ontario, and past Board member, Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario.

Most recently, Sara was honoured as the first recipient of the Nursing Leadership Award from the Niagara University School of Nursing Alumni Council.

Some relevant examples of Sara’s consulting experience include:

1. Development of Nursing Plan reporting templates for Hospital, Long term care, Public Health and Community sectors: Areas included in the Nursing Plan Reports include: Nursing leadership infrastructure, Nursing Human Resources including new graduates, Student placements and use of unregulated care providers, Utilization (e.g. overtime, sick time, agency use, attrition rates) and Manager span of control. (Sponsored by Nursing Secretariat, MOH & LTC).

2. Board strategic planning: including the design and facilitation of staff, physician and community consultation process and final strategic planning retreat.

3. Project leadership : Design, implementation and evaluation of knowledge transfer strategies to enhance physician documentation of cancer stage (provincial scope).

4. Project management: leadership development project involving a partnership between 3 health care organizations.

5. Project management: leadership succession planning project involving a partnership between 3 health care organizations.

6. Design, implementation and evaluation of professional practice structures and roles (profession specific and inter-professional).

7. Leadership development : Design, implementation and evaluation of a nursing staff leadership development program.

8. Design and evaluation of knowledge transfer strategies to enhance physician engagement in documentation practices
